He is the author of numerous articles and books about birds and birding, including Birds of Chile and was awarded the Eisenmann Medal of the Linnean Society of New York. He lives in Half Moon Bay, California. Brian E. Small has been a full-time professional bird and nature photographer for more than 20 years. He served as the photo editor for the American Birding Association's membership magazine, Birding, for the past 15 years. He lives in Los Angeles.
